Fostering an Italian Greyhound
Thank you for your interest in
fostering a rescued Italian Greyhound! Working with a foster dog
can be exciting, fun and rewarding. It's wonderful to make a
difference in a dog's life!
However, it can be time
consuming, emotionally draining and even expensive. Please make sure
you're ready to take on this task.
Fostering is much more than
simply boarding a dog. Plenty of time and energy must
be expended to help the foster dog become a great pet and companion
to a new adoptive home.

 |
THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS
-
It is preferred that foster
families are familiar with Italian Greyhounds, but experience
with any small breed or sighthound breed dog is a good start. We
can schedule foster care training, too.
-
It is preferred that foster
families have a fenced yard. Foster families with non-fenced homes must be willing to
leash walk the dog several times a day, for both bathroom breaks
and exercise.
-
All animals in the home
must be heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative during HW
season, and any animals not used for show purposes must be spayed/neutered.
-
A commitment to care for a
foster dog until the best home is found for that dog is necessary.
While some dogs are adopted within a few weeks, it's not unusual
for our foster dogs to stay with their foster families for
several months.

testing, heartworm preventative, vaccinations and necessary dentals are generally covered

GETTING STARTED
If you are interested in fostering,
please fill out our volunteer application and email it to
