Based in the Minneapolis/western
Wisconsin area, Lifeline Italian Greyhound Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all-volunteer
organization dedicated to helping Italian
Greyhounds without homes.
While some of the dogs
surrendered to our organization come in due to families who divorce, move,
develop allergies, etc., many more IGs are surrendered due to their housetraining, high activity level or
medical issues.
IGs are not the
right match for every home! Please get all the information - not just
what someone trying to sell you a dog is telling you - before you decide to
bring an Italian Greyhound into your home.
Please help our rescue dogs
by shopping through our affiliate program links located at the bottom of this page.
Talented artist Gwen Rosewater
will donate 25% of her portrait price to Lifeline if you visit her website
from here to order your
pet's portrait.
If you're looking for the ultimate IG winter or spring/rain coat, please
check out Voyagers K9 Apparel.
Tell them Lifeline sent you, and we'll get a donation from each coat
purchased, too!

We offer
education and assistance to local IG owners experiencing problems caring for
or training their dogs, along with the general public, on issues such as
spay/neuter, housetraining, nutrition, and caring for Italian Greyhounds. We
foster, rehabilitate and train IGs who have been surrendered to our rescue
by their owners, come to us from a shelter situation, or have been abandoned
at veterinary offices due to medical or behavioral issues. If there's an IG
in our area that's in need, we try to help! |
|
We are always in need of volunteers who can
foster, transport and do home visits. We also welcome donations, financial and
otherwise. You can find information about helping us
here. You can easily donate by clicking on the 'Make a Donation'
button at the top of this page, too.

adopt an Italian Greyhound or
let us find a good home for an IG you
can't keep, this is the site for you! |

| Our rescue dogs are all fostered
in the homes of experienced volunteers, and they are adopted to
highly-screened applicants. Most of our foster homes are in
Minnesota or Wisconsin, so we tend to adopt the majority of our dogs
to families within those states, or touching states. Our
rescue requires a written
application, reference check and a physical home visit - with
everyone in the family in attendance - before we approve any
applicant for adoption. We do not ship dogs or arrange for
transportation to new homes, and we do require that prospective
adopters pick up their IG in person from the foster home. We charge a
non-refundable adoption fee, which helps offset the medical costs of
the dogs we foster and re-home.
While we occasionally have rescue-only activities which are limited to dogs
adopted from our rescue, we also sponsor playdates, get-togethers,
fundraisers,
AKC
CGC testing and other activities which are open to anyone who owns
an Italian Greyhound in our area, along with a
monthly newsletter available to
IG owners. |
